Lumos: on fire

LUMOS triumphs again!

The Holy Spirit and the Northampton Youth Ministry team made Lumos: on fire yet another absolutely wonderful weekend to remember for our young parishioners (mainly from St Vincent's this time).  Friday evening to Sunday afternoon was jam - packed with events: talks, small group discussion, prayer, worship, music, film, service to the community and testimony from people telling how Lumos and the Holy Spirit has and is changing their lives.

A lumos peter

For the first time we experienced 'hands on' prayer ministry having the opportunity to be prayed for individually and it is always great that Bishop Peter comes along to join the priests giving the Sacrament of Reconciliation and again to concelebrate mass. During our mass celebration Matt did lots of explaining how water wind and fire (all elements associated with the Holy Spirit) are present in the mass celebration. It even involved Tom squashed in a big dark box and others mixing dough and treading grapes!!

If you haven't been to Lumos yourself you may be forgiven for thinking this all sounds bit 'heavy' but NO it was all so much FUN especially The Circus event on Saturday night when each small group performed their unique act!

It is really difficult to explain what Lumos is all about so why don't you get on the Lumos Blog which you can find on www.nymo.org and discover that Lumos is really not like anything else! Just forget any preconceptions and come with an open mind for a fun-packed weekend you won't easily forget.

National Youth Sunday

A lumos3 college

November 2009, on the last day of the church's year and in solidarity with young people nationally, a number of youngsters led the liturgy at the St Vincent's 11am Mass. Visual aids prepared the day before, vibrant music and a great sermon from Deacon Philip all added to the lively celebration led by Father Jimmy who is always a terrific supporter of young people in our parish.
