---------------
The Parish Team (PT)-formerly known as the Parish Council- is a team comprising of clergy and laity who, in a spirit of partnership, exercise the overall care and responsibility for the well-being and future development of the parish community of St Mary’s Parish churches.

The PT undertakes its work in a spirit of service to the parish community and in a spirit of dialogue with the various parish groups.

The PT has three roles:

  • Firstly, it has a strategic role of planning for the future of the parish.
  • Secondly, it has the role of co-ordinating parish activities and seeing that plans and policies are implemented.
  • Thirdly, it takes care to ensure that the necessary resources are identified to meet the needs of the parish.

Members of the PT (Parish Councillors) will liaise with the different areas of parish life, showing interest in and encouragement for the work of all the parish groups. The PT is responsible for establishing a structured approach to such liaison, which could be experienced by parish groups as affirmation, support and challenge in their work.
