Parish Groups

( When there is no contact deatils given please phone Mary Wood Parish Secretary  01582 662710)

There are over 45 groups working within St Mary’s Parish, here we have provided a brief outline of each group. These groups bring a vibrancy and great sense of community to our Parish. The groups and the work they do could not exist without the volunteers who provide their time and energy so freely. We are always in need of volunteers especially for the youth and if you feel you could spare some time even occasionally please contact the presbytery or email us through the website.

Altar Cloths/Linen Group

This group is responsible for the weekly house-keeping of the altar linen. Volunteers, for occasional duty, are always very welcome. Contact - (StM) Norah Hearty

Adult Faith Development Group

This was formed as a sub-group of the Parish Team. The group's aim is to create an awareness and enthusiasm of adult faith development within the community of St Mary’s Parish and to present opportunities for parishioners to develop their adult faith.

New members, adults and altar servers, are always needed. Applicants for altar servers should have celebrated their First Communion.

Cenacle of Rosary

The Rosary prayer time listed for Tuesday's, after 9.30 am Mass, at St.Mary's follows the protocol of the Marian Movement of Priests, and is known as a 'Cenacle of Prayer'. We pray especially for Our Holy Father and all Priests worldwide. The Marian Movement of Priests, of Our Lady of Fatima, began its journey in 1972, in Fatima, when a young Italian priest prayed at the shrine. Through his prayer, Our Blessed Lady invited him to consecrate his life to her, praying the rosary. She urged him to talk to as many priests as possible to do the same. He followed her direction and he has travelled to every continent encouraging , priests, religious and faithful. Our Blessed Lady of Fatima has called this 'Her movement', hence the title, 'The Marian Movement of Priests'. Their feast day is that of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. All this information can be read in the blue book, entitled; To the Priests, Our Lady's Beloved Sons. Contact-Raphael de Lusignan- care of Parish Office. 01582 662710
