Beaver
Beavers at St. Mary's are for boys and girls aged 6 to 8.we meet on wednesdays during term time from 5,30 to 6.30.
Beaver leader is Mary Dellar and the assistant leader is Sally Oliver. Two young leaders also help and these are Anthony Trinder and Sarah Fisher. Beaver meetings usually follow a theme and usually consist of games and activities, often noisy and messy. The whole focus of beavers is fun and friends which is also the beaver motto.
We also try to do as many outdoor activities as possible and do a lot of activities that promote teamwork, even if it's just which team can make the most mess in the shortest possible time. Beavers are expected to be reasonably well behaved and we never tolerate bullying or any antisocial behaviour in any form. By using fun activities we hope to encourage thinking of others and helpfulness.
At the moment we are full to capacity and have a waiting list.

Girl Guides
17th Dunstable (St Mary’s) Guide Company is now running in its 30th year. What we offer to girls between the ages often and fourteen is something that is now considered unique; a single gender youth group who do not find themselves competing with boys, rather enhancing and encouraging one another’s skills and talents.

We spend our time craft making, playing games, cooking and whatever else the girls indicate interests them. Emphasis is put on the girls leading each other and so once a term we ask them to plan their own evening, doing whatever suits them!
In the past few years we have raised money with the girls to pay for a trip of their choice, with the Brownies, which have included Brighton, Cadbury’s World in Birmingham and Whipsnade Zoo.
As we are based at St Mary’s, we attend mass in uniform several times a year and actively try to support the church.
However we do not exclusively accept Catholic Guides, and have an equal number of girls that do not attend church.
Any girl aged between 10 and 14 is welcome to come and try Guides. Whether they are very shy or hugely outgoing, there is a friend at Guide for them to be made!
